    The Student Evaluation of Instruction (SEI) has been renamed to Survey of Student Learning Experience (SSLE). In keeping with this, the links in the CarmenCanvas course navigation have been updated.

  • CarmenCanvas: YouTube Overlay Update

    Beginning September 22, YouTube videos embedded in your Canvas courses may begin to display ads.  This is due to a change made by YouTube. In response, Instructure (the vendor for CarmenCanvas) will display an overlay message warning users that ads may appear. This message will appear before a video plays and must be clicked through by each user.

  • Carmen Files Redesign

    The Carmen Files page has been redesigned for greater accessibility, intuitiveness and streamlined usage. This change applies to course files and user files. A temporary toggle allows users to switch between the new and the old interface.

  • Canvas Update - Permalink for Discussion Entries

    In Discussions, each reply now includes a copyable permalink allowing users to share a direct link to that specific reply. If the reply is part of a thread, the thread will expand to reveal it.

  • LMS Scanning Tool RFP Now Open

    The Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) is leading a Request for Proposals (RFP) for an accessibility scanning tool to be integrated within the CarmenCanvas learning management system (LMS) and other Canvas instances. This application will enhance digital accessibility initiatives to improve accessibility to course content led by the ADA Digital Accessibility Center and OTDI's Digital Accessibility Services.
  • New Media Player in CarmenCanvas with Improved Accessibility and Usability

    The media player for recordings created or uploaded to CarmenCanvas has been updated, with increased accessibility, adaptive streaming, and new privacy features. The media player is best used for short (1-3 minute) videos.

  • Buckeye UX (BUX) Theme Coming to CarmenCanvas May 1

    As part of a larger initiative to create a cohesive digital experience at Ohio State, the Buckeye UX (BUX) theme will be applied to CarmenCanvas on May 1. Functionality for the learning management system will remain the same, but the look and feel will shift to the BUX style.
  • Generate Academic Courses in Aegis

    The ability for instructors to generate academic courses in CarmenCanvas has moved to Aegis. This is the last of the suite of instructor tools that have been moved to Aegis, our updated platform for managing Learning Systems tools.
